David Carlisle, born and raised in Wellsburg, West Virginia, first expressed interest in twirling in high school when he noticed the baton twirlers practicing during a choir class his sophomore year.
This sparked a new interest for a hobby during his time with Brooke High in 2013. 2014 came around and he wanted to try it. He picked up a baton and never looked back. He made the Brooke High School twirling line in 2014 and made feature twirler in 2015.

During his time on the twirling line he won runner-up for best feature twirler at states in Charleston WV. He won first place at the Apple Festival held in his hometown, and also held a position on the first and second baton twirling Ohio Valley Athletic Conference All Star Band line (OVAC All Star Band) in 2015 and 2016 band seasons.

After he graduated from Brooke High School in 2016 he then auditioned for the WVU Feature Twirlers and the Alderson Broaddus University Twirling Line. He decided to go to Alderson Broaddus University to pursue his education as an Education Major. David spent 3 years with ABU and then switched to WVU in 2019.

During his time twirling in college to present day he has been an assistant coach for the Brooke High School Majorettes from 2016 onward and helped coach the OVAC all star band majorette line. David also was lucky enough through his contacts at Alderson Broaddus to help with a Miss West Virginia Pageant in 2017.

In 2023 he was asked to be a choreographer for Buckeye Local for their Beauty and the Beast school musical; he also was asked to judge several Majorette auditions and still pursues this to present day.

During his time at Alderson Broaddus University David competed in Florida for Twirtaculer held in Orlando, where he placed first in Men’s Solo, Men’s freestyle, Men’s exhibition, and Dance twirl. David was asked to be the Coach of the Wesleyan Feature Twirlers in 2024. David expressed his gratitude for the chance to hold the position and proudly represents the College. He is looking forward to the upcoming years and hopes to inspire this upcoming generation.

In his free time David enjoys coaching and teaching with the dance studio where he started twirling(Studio Stars) in Follansbee, West Virginia, and enjoys helping his community by teaching dance
and twirl classes to the youth and teaches dance to adults. David currently resides in Wellsburg, West Virginia, and works as a Head Teller for a community bank and serves as a board member for his
high school marching band Alumni Committee.

He enjoys passing the sport along to everyone who expresses interest in the sport and encourages everyone to give it a try. Twirling has brought so much joy in his life. Teaching and mentoring people is something that he never regretted and hopes to inspire many people to come.
