Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

Title IX at West Virginia Wesleyan College

Consistent with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, West Virginia Wesleyan College does not discriminate against students, faculty or staff based on sex in any of its programs or activities, including but not limited to educational programs, employment, and admission. Sexual harassment, including sexual violence, is a kind of sex discrimination and is prohibited by Title IX and by the College. The Title IX Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination Policy is the mechanism adopted by the College to address reported misconduct.

In responding to reports of sexual harassment, the College always aims to stop the behavior, prevent its recurrence, and remedy its effects. The College is committed to responding promptly and effectively when it learns of any form of possible discrimination based on sex within the campus community and offers many resources to students, faculty, and staff to promote a campus culture of respect.

Title IX Coordinator

The Title IX Coordinator oversees the investigation and resolution of all reports and complaints made by students, employees, and visitors of alleged discrimination, which includes failure to accommodate, harassment, or misconduct in accordance with College policy.

It is the responsibility of each member of our campus community to review the Title IX Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination Policy to ensure that you are fully informed of your rights and responsibilities as a member of our community.
