West Virginia Wesleyan College, on behalf of President Pamela Balch and Athletic Director Randy Tenney, is pleased to announce that the first Wesleyan football game will be played on campus at Cebe Ross Field.
President Balch made the announcement today during the College’s annual Faculty/Staff Retreat and Recognition Program.
The College originally announced the first game was to be moved off-campus to Buckhannon-Upshur High School two weeks ago.
Deluxe Athletics, the company handling the multi-purpose field renovations, recently informed Wesleyan officials that the field would be ready for the Sept. 6 season opener against the University of Charleston.
The Mountain East Conference contest will kick-off at 1 p.m.
“We are very excited for our coaches and players to have the opportunity to play their season opener at Ross Field,” Tenney said. “We appreciate the offer from Buckhannon-Upshur High School to play the game there, but after talking with Deluxe Athletic representatives, they assured us Cebe Ross Field will be ready on Sept. 6.”
In preparation for the opener, the Bobcats will have an 80-play intra-squad scrimmage this Saturday, Aug. 23 at Buckhannon-Upshur High School at 8 a.m.
