The Great Gathering and other Spiritual Life Activities Announced
Kickoff the new year at West Virginia Wesleyan College with the celebration of the Great Gathering. This lively time of music and celebration by Rev. Christopher Scott, new chaplain/director of Religious and Spiritual Life, will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, in Wesley Chapel. Musician Ben Townsend, best known for his performances on NPR's Mountain Stage concert series, will be the performing headliner.
The Great Gathering will also be a great giving as the College will be collecting items (canned goods, toiletries, etc.) for the Upshur Parish House. Immediately following the Great Gathering will be a reception with light food and refreshments. It will be a time to get to know churches and pastors in the area, as well as get acquainted with Rev. Scott. All are welcome to celebrate the year during this event.
Beginning September 2, Rise and Shine! Morning Prayer will be offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8-8:20 a.m. in the Martin Religious Center Meditation Chapel. Start the day off right with a brief morning prayer and communion, and grab some coffee and snacks to go.
On Tuesdays at 11:05 a.m., all are welcome to attend chapel service at the Martin Religious Center Meditation Chapel beginning on September 8. Take some time out every Tuesday to unwind, recharge, and re-connect with God. Chapel will be an eclectic variety of worship styles, music, and preaching. We are always open to your leadership and gifts. If you are interested in getting involved in worship, please do not hesitate to contact Rev. Scott.
The Faith and Film series will begin September 10 at 7 p.m. in Chambers Lounge in Wesley Chapel. Come see a film and stay after to talk about how it relates to faith, spirituality, and life in general. All are welcome.
For more information on Religious and Spiritual Life or to offer your services for Chapel, please contact Rev. Scott at (304) 473-8007 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Reverend Christopher Scott will work along Admissions to cultivate prospective United Methodist students, develop a variety of religious programs, and help develop transformative leaders. He served as the senior pastor at Meadow River UMC and Levelton UMC in Rainelle, WV. He served as a student pastor in St. Louis, MO, while attending Eden Theological Seminary and worked as a student in the Shepherd University Office of Student Affairs.
