Campus Organizations Gear Up for Annual Spring Sing
As the spring season begins, so do the spring festivities at West Virginia Wesleyan College. The annual Spring Sing competition is a highlight of the Spring Weekend and will be held Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m. in Wesley Chapel. This year’s competition theme is “Sweet Home….Among the Hills” and will bring the sounds of country music to the campus.
Each Panhellenic and Inter-fraternal Council recognized Greek letter organization on campus will be competing in the contest, along with an independent organization category including the Black Student Union (BSU). The fraternities include Alpha Sigma Phi, Chi Phi, Kappa Alpha (KA), Theta Chi, Theta Xi, and the sororities include Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Xi Delta, and Zeta Tau Alpha. Awards will be given to first, second, and third place for each category (Sorority, Fraternity, and Independent) as well as an Overall Winner, and a Best Director Award.
Along with the performance judging, each group will also be judged on a themed banner. Four faculty/staff judges will decide the winners of the competition, as well as a single judge to decide which group best captured the country theme in their banner.
Entertainment for this year’s event will include a special performance by a group of alumni during the judge’s award deliberation. This year’s emcee host will be Wesleyan’s Director of Multicultural Programs and Services Robert Quarles ’11. The competition is free to the public.
