CCE to Spread the Love Once Again
The fifth annual West Virginia Wesleyan College Spread the Love Peanut Butter Drive will take place September 19-30. Donations will benefit the Upshur Cooperative Parish House food pantry.
Peanut butter is a staple for families in need due to its nutritiounal value and popularity among children. However, it is not an item commonly donated. When there is no peanut butter on the food pantry shelves, supplies are replenished from the limited resources of the Parish House. Last year, Wesleyan and the local community donated 1,100 jars of peanut butter to help alleviate food needs.
The College will be collecting peanut butter at various drop-off points on campus, and arrangements for pick-up can be made for community donations.
The Spread the Love Peanut Butter drive is part of the Governor's Day to Serve which began in 2012 as a collaboration between the governors of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the mayor of DC. Over 14,000 volunteers carried out 750 community service projects. They collected and donated more than 600,000 pounds of food and planted hundreds of trees.
