Rhodes Wins OMEGA Scholarship
Taylor Rhodes of Sissonville, WV, was one of eleven recipients to receive the West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association (OMEGA)’s Scholarship. OMEGA is the trade association which represents the state’s convenience stores, independent grocers and petroleum marketers.
Rhodes is a recent graduate of Sissonville High School and plans to attend West Virginia Wesleyan College in the fall, where she will major in nursing. Rhodes is very active in Young Life, many civic and community groups, and athletics, where she was named First Team All-State in soccer.
“Education is an essential part of our lives, and providing our state’s youth with the opportunities to receive a quality education is key in moving West Virginia forward. We are extremely pleased to be in a position to support our members, their employees, and families in furthering their education,” said Jan Vineyard, president of OMEGA. “We received dozens of applications and the selection process was very competitive, but Taylor was one of the eleven that really stood out. She excels academically while dedicating a lot of her time to giving back to the community and helping others. We congratulate her on this selection and wish her the best of luck.”
OMEGA’s scholarship program is designed to assist their members, children of members, and employees of members and their children. The program provides a one-time $1,000 scholarship to high school seniors, undergraduates or graduate students enrolled in a full-time course of study at a college or university. Students may reapply to the program each year as long as they meet requirements.
