The Department of Theatre & Dance at West Virginia Wesleyan College will present Next on November 7-8 at 8 p.m. in the Annex Theatre located in the English Annex building on campus.
Directed by senior theatre arts major Bill Hensel of Greensburg, PA, Next is written by Terrance McNally. The one-act comedy follows a farce presentation between a no-nonsense female examining officer and a middle-aged, overweight, debt-ridden, divorced father of two who mistakenly has been called by the draft. Marion Cheever, a man pushing fifty, is drafted into military service and attempts to sabotage the process during his medical examination. The reality of his situation sinks in as he loses his battle of wits to his examining officer, Sergeant Thech.
The cast includes Wesleyan students Collin Nelson of Charleston as Marion, and Bethany Gardner of Eighty Four, PA, as Sgt. Thech.
Admission is $3 at the door, and everyone is welcome. For more information, please contact Thomas Schoffler, coordinator of the Department of Theatre & Dance, at email@example.com or (304) 473-8810.
