Student Success Center to Host Second Annual Internship Fair
The Student Success Center at West Virginia Wesleyan College will host its second annual internship fair on Thursday, October 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library.
The fair will be a way for students to meet with local business owners to begin building relationships that could potentially lead to internship opportunities. A LinkedIn photo booth will also provide students the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken to display on their social media sites or to include in internship applications.
Internships are required for many majors at Wesleyan, and the fair is one way the Center is reaching out to connect community and campus. Last year, over 180 students took advantage of this opportunity.
Over 25 community partners have committed to the event, including such constituents as Shelley Moore Capito’s office, Northwestern Mutual, A.F. Wendlings, Comdot, the Peace Corps, and more.
An addition to this year’s schedule is an opportunity for community partners to set up on-the-spot interviews between 1-2 p.m. that day. Students will also be exposed to information sessions on the day of the fair. Sessions on creating and polishing a LinkedIn Profile and building a strong résumé will also be available for students.
