Sleeth Gallery Presents: Interior
The Sleeth Gallery at West Virginia Wesleyan College is pleased to announce the opening exhibition for the 2015-2016 season, Interior, an exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Crystal Ann Brown. The exhibition will run September 1-October 1, 2015, showing Monday-Friday, by appointment. A reception for the exhibition will be held on Thursday, September 3, from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. with an artist talk to immediately follow.
Brown’s work explores the interplay between her everyday experiences as a practicing artist and mother through various media and events. The interdisciplinary work within the exhibition engages the audience through referencing the sights, sounds and activities of daily life, developing an inquisitive interaction between the work, the space and the viewer.
Brown is an interdisciplinary artist working in Kansas City. She earned her MFA in Sculpture and Expanded Practice from the Ohio University School of Art and graduated with a BFA in Sculpture from Kendall College of Art and Design. Her work has been exhibited both regionally and nationally; select venues include the Charles Allis Museum of Decorative Arts in Milwaukee, the Kennedy Museum of Art, and the H&R Block ArtSpace in Kansas City. Crystal is the founder and director of The Hown’s Den: A Nomadic + Domestic Exhibition Space, as well as a founding member of SPECTRA:A Nomadic Platform for Experimental Time-Based Media.
