Concert Band and Chamber Ensembles to Present Concert
The West Virginia Wesleyan College Department of Music will showcase their talents at their spring concert on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. in the Culpepper Auditorium of the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts. The concert will feature the Concert Band, under the direction of Logan Lindsey, as well as the Brass Choir, under the direction of Dr. James Moore; Flute Choir, under the direction of Linda Wolfersheim; and the Tuba/Euphonium Quartet, also under Lindsey’s direction.
The Concert Band will be performing pieces by Samuel Hazo, John Philip Sousa, Eric Whitacre, John Williams, and more. The concert will feature a three-movement wind symphony and the score to Jurassic Park.
“The Concert Band has taken strides both in growth and performance in the past few years, and this year has been no exception,” stated Lindsey. “There is something on this concert for everyone to enjoy in addition to some mature musicianship from a fine group of students with varying majors.”
In addition to the full band, Chamber Ensembles will be playing a variety of pieces for the audience’s enjoyment.
The event is free and open to the public.
