West Virginia Wesleyan College’s WE LEAD Poverty Reduction issue team, in conjunction with the Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development, is holding the annual Trick or Treat for Canned Goods this Halloween, October 31 at 6 p.m.
Trick or Treat for Canned Goods is a student-coordinated project that allows the community to help other families in need. Students and volunteers will collect canned goods instead of candy from Buckhannon citizens during the city-wide Trick-or-Treat time. Anyone can participate in donating canned goods or helping with the collecting process. All items will be donated to the Parish House who will then distribute them to the families in need.
“Now in its thirteenth year, this event is one that brings the College and the community together for the larger purpose of helping others,” said Katie Loudin, coordinator of outreach and leadership development. “The Parish House strengthens the community by giving support to families having a difficult time and helping them stabilize again.”
