Wesleyan Capital Campaign Closing In on $25 Million
West Virginia Wesleyan College’s “Enhancing Our Tradition, Empowering Our Future” Capital Campaign is closing in on $25 million in gifts and pledges toward the $30 million goal.
Over 30 new endowed scholarships and academic support funds have been created through the generosity of alumni and friends. “Two of our top priorities for this campaign are to address affordability and to secure support for academic needs such as science equipment, curriculum development, and faculty support,” noted Wesleyan President Pamela Balch ’71. “We are delighted that we have added financial aid opportunities that will allow us to continue to attract and retain outstanding students from West Virginia and surrounding states.”
The School of Business, School of Science, and School of Fine Arts and Humanities have also benefitted from the Campaign through gifts for faculty development grants and equipment.
Other priorities for the Campaign include capital improvements, special projects such as the transformation of Ross Field into a multi-purpose athletic complex, current scholarship funds, and the $2 million Title III Endowment Match, where every donation to that challenge is matched dollar-for-dollar by the Federal Government.
Wesleyan publicly announced its Capital Campaign in October. Nearly 5,500 alumni and friends to date have made contributions. The College’s target date for the campaign’s conclusion is June 30, 2017.
