Aloi Named to Nonprofit Association Board
Dr. Susan Aloi, director of the Thomas H. Albinson II School of Business at West Virginia Wesleyan College, has been appointed as a board member for the West Virginia Nonprofit Association (WVNPA). Dr. Aloi will serve on the Programming Committee. The WVNPA is a state-wide organization that provides training, development, networking, and advocacy to strengthen West Virginia nonprofits and to advance the nonprofit sector as a whole.
Aloi was instrumental in developing a set of Principles and Practices to assess and guide the development of nonprofits in West Virginia. With the help of student researcher, Kaitlyn Noe of Clarksburg, WV, Aloi reviewed national and other states’ standards for best practices in managing nonprofit organizations. Collaborating with the WVNPA Board, Aloi identified relevant operational criteria and revised these to emphasize areas of critical importance to nonprofits in West Virginia. These WV Principles and Practices of Nonprofit Excellence were subsequently approved by the WVNPA and released to nonprofits across the state through a series of regional meetings this spring.
