West Virginia Wesleyan College invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning Fall 2015 in the Department of Communication. Qualified applicants for both positions should be able to teach a variety of human communication courses, including the fundamentals of human communication (general studies) basic course, introduction to the discipline, and a senior-level internship capstone course in all majors.
Areas of concentration for one position includes the ability to teach communication research, communication theory, and rhetorical argument and evidence. Areas of concentration for the second position includes the ability to teach interpersonal communication, small group communication, and organizational communication. Requirements include a Ph.D. Well-qualified ABDs who provide evidence of successful undergraduate teaching will be considered. Review of applicants will begin February 1, 2015, and will continue until the position is filled.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to assist in the growth and development of our new media studies major that encompasses the convergence of the traditional and technological media. Preference will be given to candidates with media and public relations backgrounds.
The Department of Communication houses three majors (Communication Studies, Media Studies and Public Relations) and two minors (Communication Studies and Media Studies). It is recognized as an NCA Rex Mix Program of Excellence. The department includes a faculty that values collaborative work and integrates theory and application across the curriculum.
