In 2014, the U.S. Department of Education awarded Wesleyan a $10 million Title III grant under the Strengthening Institutions Program. The purpose of the grant is to improve strategies for student engagement and success which includes enrollment, retention, persistence, and graduation rates for Wesleyan students, especially those who are first-generation college students, and/or Federal Pell Grant recipients. The award allows the College to improve student success through additional staff and programs. It will help fund the renovation of classrooms that will include state-of-the-art technology.
A key component of the grant is a $2 million dollar-for-dollar endowment match by the federal government. If we are successful, the Title III Endowment Match will help Wesleyan increase its endowment by $4 million, which will strengthen the College’s future.
