Facilities & Instrumentation
The Chemistry Department is located on the third floor of the Christopher Hall of Science and the recent David E. Reemsnyder Research Center, an $8.9 million building which houses facilities for organic chemistry teaching and research, analytical/biochemistry research, and general/analytical chemistry teaching. These buildings are located at the heart of the Wesleyan campus and they also house the Departments of Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology. The close proximity of these departments facilitates interaction between departments in interdisciplinary courses, and in research that crosses traditional departmental boundaries.
Wesleyan is a small college of the liberal arts and sciences and our size enables us to give every student access to our scientific instrumentation. Our students obtain hands-on experience with equipment in both teaching labs and through independent research projects. The Chemistry Department has a wide variety of state-of-the-art chemical instruments, many of which were acquired within the past 10 years.
