President's Message

President Balch

Dear Students and Family Members,

We welcome you to West Virginia Wesleyan College and hope that it becomes your “home among the hills.” As an alumna of this phenomenal liberal arts college, I can personally attest to the caring and nurturing environment that WVWC offers to both its undergraduate and graduate students.

Just to name a few opportunities available, you may select from over forty majors and forty minors, pursue undergraduate research projects with outstanding faculty mentors, participate in a challenging and rewarding honors program, utilize the latest of technology-related education with your laptop computer, and experience a purposeful career-related internship. Our faculty will provide you with a strong liberal arts foundation along with outstanding preparation in your desired major.

The possibilities are endless. If you are looking for a college experience that provides a value-centered atmosphere with the majority of students participating in meaningful community service, then consider joining us. WVWC, founded in 1890, has a proud Methodist heritage and welcomes and nurtures students from all religious affiliations with numerous religious and spiritual life opportunities.

If you are the adventuresome student who may want to study abroad, enjoy Greek life, join one of over 70 clubs, or explore the fabulous outdoor recreation activities (such as snow skiing, caving, horseback riding, white water rafting, or rock climbing) consider joining us at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

If you are an athlete and would like to continue your sport(s), we have eighteen exciting NCAA Division II sports and seven intramural sports.

If you are a performing artist or have ever wanted to participate in theatre, vocal, or instrumental ensembles, you will join over 250 talented and enthusiastic students.

If you are interested in great academic facilities, then stay tuned as we work toward the construction of a new performing arts building and a new science building. Renovation of residence halls is also occurring presently.

Do you want to have a college experience that will last for a life time? WV Wesleyan faculty and staff care deeply about students and provide incredible experiences and opportunities. WVWC is truly a special place that will forever impact your life.

As a potential student or an interested family member, I encourage you to visit our beautiful campus and meet with faculty, staff, and students who have come to love their “home among the hills.” Feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Pamela Balch, President
